Believe it or not, watches have been around for over 500 hundred years. In the early 1500′s, the first pocket watch was created. This was the beginning of a very popular trend that continues today. These two advances moved them to begin exports to China. Two years later (in 1960), a relationship with another watchmaker was forged in order to distribute to the United States. These two moves, along with its other breakthroughs, grew the company to a worldwide name. Advancements continued to be made with the world’s first diving watch, a product that could detect water depth electronically.
Watches became more of a fashion statement than a way to just tell time. People around the world began to consider them not only timepieces, but works of art meant for display. It seems people from all walks of life enjoy making a statement about the value of time. Since the inception of the company, they keep setting higher standards for progressive excellence.
Not forgetting the world around us, the company led the industry in technology and environmental awareness. It was the first corporation to receive the “Eco Mark” approval for its advanced light powered watches. The Eco Mark symbol represents a voluntary effort by a company to protect the earth by creating products (watches) that reduce waste and improve the environment.
