Different societies and cultures are easily identified through their style of dressing meaning dressing does not function as a covering to human body and also carries other functions and significance.
Some societies only covered the little parts of their body which they considered exposed and that completed their dressing. Others wore duds and attires that carried social significance.
Primarily the aim of wearing clothing is its function. This outlines the type and the quantity of clothing to be worn. Sometimes attire were worn for protection or for warmth though this has evolved to more elaborated function and social reasons of wearing clothes.
In traditional times communities that lived in the tropics where temperatures were more accommodative wore attire that only covered what that community called nakedness. This differed from one community to another while beyond the tropics and in cold area, fur and leather clothes were worn to keep them warm on special purposes or functions like war or battle they’d make special clothes for protection from physical attacks and injury. Long distance travelers had to cover more parts of their body shielding them from stings bites and injuries, from thorns and other element as they needed to walk thru harsh environments.
Today clothing is categorized into 2 major settings, that is, functional and social settings. In functions, garments are worn as a protection or a covering from varied elements. This include physical elements like friction, abrasion especially when coping with the moving parts in machines heat and cold that’s temperature changes that will either be mild or extreme chemicals which some can be corrosive or dangerous to the body parts and event to unseen elements like radiation. Different garments are specially designed to handle different physical situations and their levels.
Garments are designed to protect from toxinsand germs. This may be 2 way in that the clothes protects the infected from further infecting others or from being infected. Surgery Theater has special clothes for that purpose. For social and cultural function attire is worn for individual occupational and sexual differences and social status.
Individual can wear attire to define their tastes or preferences that are independent of all of the factors. Occupation can define the sort of attire worn example uniform for army, aprons for cooks waiters and many others that represent the position function or purpose. Sexual outlines sex based totally on gender either male or female clothes are designed to fit either or both of this genders because a person and a woman are created structurally different. For social standing this outlines the class of the person either low class in which the value of the cloth is low or high class where the value and even design represents the status. Majority of faiths in the world have different dressing codes of worship especially for the priest and leader as the clothing represent levels of holiness and positions in churches, churches, shrines and temples.
